T-Shirt - Over:Drive Promotions–Download 09 Design

Commissioned by Over:Drive Promotions from the 2009 Download hard rock and metal festival, the brief was to make the design as typically rock as possible whilst containing obvious references to the Teesside area and town of Middlesbrough in the UK.

The purpose of the shirts were to be sold to customers at local rock night who were attending the festival in order to easily spot each other in amongst the crowds and had to be in a vivid unisex colour. Cost to produce the garments also had to be taken into consideration as well making sure the t-shirt was of a durable quality whilst being as cheap as possible to make.

The end product was a front and back, single colour design printed using high quality screen printing technology onto a fruit of the loom shirt for durability. The front consists of a crest style design clearly displaying the wearer’s allegiance with the area, sided by a pair of wings and a set of lions representing the local football club.

The centre shield topped with a silhouette of the Tees Transporter Bridge, clearly shows what the shirt is for with a scroll style banner underneath stating the dates and location of the event, bottomed off with an industrial skull and 2 crossed guitars.

The back of the shirt contains a small advertisement line for the rock nights location and the same message as the front along with a captioned “Smoggies on tour” relating to a classic saying from the area.
